Firefighters are working to tackle a house blaze, with the fire spreading through to the home next door.
At 5.57am this morning, firefighters raced to the scene in Jena Close, Shoebury.
On arrival, crews confirmed that there was an established fire in the roof of a semi-detached house that had spread to the roof next door.
It's believed the firefighters are extinguishing the fire in sections as they work to control the fire.
A spokesperson from the fire service, said: "Firefighters are currently at the scene of a fire affecting two houses in Jena Close, Shoeburyness.
"If you live in the area, please keep your windows and doors shut.
"This is an ongoing incident and we will provide regular updates."
UPDATE:
Firefighters extinguished the fire at 7:40am, whilst crews remain at the scene to make the area safe.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out later today.
