The former English professional football star with wife Katie were spotted at Sealife Adventure feeding the resident penguins, yesterday.
A spokesman for Sealife Adventure said: "Our penguins definitely enjoyed having their lunch served by some very special guests today. Thanks for coming down Rio and Katie Ferdinand."
The football star is a former professional player, who played 81 times for the England national team between 1997 and 2011, and was a member of three FIFA World Cup squads.
Wife Kate found her own fame in hit TV show The Only Way Is Essex.
