THE coronavirus pandemic has resulted in many of us having our summer holidays cancelled this year.

Lockdown restrictions have been in place since Covid-19 first reached our shores in March and advice from government has resulted in an upturn of people looking at where they could go on holiday within the UK.

Although staycations have become increasingly popular in recent months, localised lockdowns in various regions mean it has been difficult for those looking to get away to book a last minute getaway.

Consequently, a huge number of us are deciding to stay closer to home, so we have looked into where the top 10 Southend hotels, according to TripAdvisor, are when it comes to value for money.

According to the popular site, the Roslin Beach Hotel is the seaside town’s leading accommodation option for Southend holidaymakers, while Travelodge - which creeps into the top 10 - is at the affordable price of just £37 for a one-night stay.

All prices listed below are correct as of September 18.

TOP REVIEW: I stayed at Travelodge for two nights and enjoyed my stay. The rooms were large and clean, while all members of staff were friendly and the hotel itself was very quiet. You get what you pay for - a basic service. I couldn’t fault it. The location was so central within the town and, with that being the case, there was some noise from surrounding pubs. But I think that’s to be expected in any central location.
