I WAS amused by the Echo’s front page headline “Covid Carve-up” where the folly of the latest plan to control Covid-19 was pointed out.
If Essex is really going to control the virus, then the whole county needs to be singing from the same hymn sheet.
Consistency and the quality of messaging has already been harshly criticised and now we create even more with this two-tier system...even for neighbours who live a few feet away.
If Essex figures are that bad, then Southend is likely to follow. So why would our council dig its heels in and not follow everyone else.
After all, this is public health we’re talking about. If it’s good for one, it should be good for another.
