I AM among the ranks of many who have been successful in democratic elections and served the community in various capacities.
As one of the founder Castle Point councillors in 1973, elected again in 1995 and 1999, throughout the total of 11 years as a local councillor, I was always conscious of the authority provided to me by the votes of electors.
The same applied for my seven years as an elected governor of Southend Hospital.
Looking at the USA presidential elections, I cannot see how Trump can hope to be empowered to continue in office against the wishes of the majority of electors.
He has not earned that privilege. It comes from voters and his attempts to cling to office are demeaning and hopefully doomed to deserved failure.
