A TREE which fell on a van during high winds caused rush-hour chaos for commuters.
The incident happened in Rochford Road, Prittlewell, near the Bell pub about 7.45am this morning (Friday).
Police closed the road, which leads to Southend Airport, while firefighters from Leigh Fire Station made the scene safe.
The roof of the white Renault van was crushed by the impact of the 40ft tree, but the driver was not injured.
