One part of Southend is battling a 500% rise in Covid cases - as the borough continues to fight increase.
It comes as Southend Covid cases have doubled in the last week, now at 800 from 395.
Basildon now has 1432 an increase from 901.
Basildon's surging coronavirus infection rate has seen it return to the second hardest-hit area of England, new figures show.
In the seven days to December 13, Basildon's infection rate shot up from 481.3 to 765.0, with 1,432 new cases.
This means the borough has the second highest rate in the country.
