Police teams uncovered weapons including a knuckle duster and scythe after stopping a vehicle in Benfleet.
While out on Op Sceptre patrols, officers from the Operational Support Group (OSG) pulled over the vehicle in Kiln Road on Saturday (January 23).
During a search of the vehicle, the two weapons were discovered and a driver failed a roadside drugs wipe test for cocaine and cannabis.
A man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession of two offensive weapons.
The 37-year-old from the town was interviewed and has been released under investigation pending blood test results.

A spokesperson from Essex Police, said: "Whilst on OP Sceptre patrols, officers from our Operational Support Group (OSG) stopped a vehicle in Kiln Road, Benfleet, on Saturday night (January 23).
"During a search of the vehicle two weapons were recovered, a scythe and a knuckle duster.
"Unfortunately a driver failed a roadside drugs wipe test (cocaine and cannabis).
"A man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession of an offensive weapon x 2. The 37-year-old from the town was interviewed and has been released under investigation pending blood test results.
"A great result by OSG."
