DRIVERS are being warned of a weekend A13 closure due to a bridge demolition.
The A13 will be closed in both directions between the A128 for Orsett Cock roundabout and the A1014 for Stanford-le-Hope this weekend to demolish Horndon Bridge.
The closure takes place from 9pm on Friday until 5am on Monday. Drivers are advised to avoid the area where possible and measures will be put in place to help keep local traffic on the move.
Traffic will be diverted via the A1013 Stanford Road. Non-local traffic should avoid the A13 and use alternative routes such as the A127.
Additional traffic management measures will be deployed in Horndon-on-the-Hill and at the Stanford Road and Buckingham Hill Road junction to minimise the impact on other roads.
The new Horndon Bridge will be closed while the demolition of the old bridge takes place, to ensure the safety of the public.
