THE number of daily Covid deaths recorded at mid and south Essex hospitals reached double figures for the first time in more than week.
NHS England announced another 11 fatalities at Basildon, Southend and Broomfield hospitals yesterday.
It was the highest daily number recorded since February 24 when 13 were announced.
The rise in deaths is partly due to the time-period in which they occurred, with figures showing the 11 fatalities happened between January 10 and March 1.
Another four Covid deaths at the Basildon, Southend and Broomfield hospitals have meanwhile been recorded today.

It means there has now been 2,290 Covid-related deaths at the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust since the pandemic began a year ago.
Today's figures show there has been another 204 coronavirus deaths recorded at hospitals in England.
Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.
This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the latest period may actually have taken place days earlier.
NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."
Only deaths that occur in hospitals where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 are recorded, with deaths in the community excluded, such as those in care homes.
