A VIGIL that was set to be held in response to a woman's disappearance has been cancelled.
The vigil was set to be held at Southend Victoria Train Station on Saturday at 6pm in response to the case of Sarah Everard.
Ms Everard vanished while walking home from a friend’s flat in south London on Wednesday March 3.
The Metropolitan Police said "human remains" had been found during the search for the 33-year-old in Ashford, Kent, yesterday.
Samantha Reed, organiser of the vigil for Southend this weekend, has since posted stating the event, which was one of many planned across the country this weekend under the campaign #reclaimthesestreets, has been cancelled by police.

Unfortunately Essex Police are cancelling the vigils due to current COVID lockdown. Understandable of course and apologies to all who wanted to attend. I’m thinking maybe we hold vigils on our doorsteps at the same time instead? pic.twitter.com/xxkM2VKE2A
Ms Reed said police cancelled the events due to the Covid lockdown restrictions and stay at home orders.
She apologised to those who had planned to attend but said she was determined to hold some form of remote vigil instead.
A serving police officer in the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command has been arrested on suspicion of Ms Everard’s kidnap and murder.
The officer, in his 40s, was also arrested over a separate allegation of indecent exposure, the Met said.
A woman in her 30s has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
