OFFICERS are urgently appealing for witnesses after a teenager was charged in connection with a serious assault in Corringham.
Essex Police were called to reports a man had been assaulted in Gardener Avenue at around 8.50pm on Thursday 25 March.
He sustained a head injury during the incident and was taken to hospital while another person was also assaulted.
It was reported the attacker was in possession of what has been described as a samurai sword or machete.
A 42 year-old woman was later arrested in Bellmaine Avenue on suspicion of obstructing a police officer and assisting an offender and she has since been released on bail until 23 April.
A 16 year-old boy was arrested the following day and has since been charged with GBH with intent, GBH without intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and assault by beating.
He is next due to appear at Southend Youth Court on 13 April.
Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries into the incident and are asking anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage to come forward.
