A housing association in Southend is warning its tenants about a new scam.
Some residents in properties run by South Essex Homes have been recieving hoax calls offering to repair their homes.
Others are being told they must pay for repairs to be carried out.
South Essex Homes are urging residents to ask for ID from anyone offering to do repairs.
It tweeted: "Be aware.
If you have concerns following our previous tweet please do check with our contact centre if in any doubt.👇

"Hoax Callers have been contacting our residents asking if they would like repairs carried out or asking for money to carry out repairs.
"We would never contact you to ask for money and our staff carry ID on them.
"We urge you to please report this to Essex Police on 101."

The association is also asking residents with any concerns or doubts to contact its call centre on 0800 833160.
Police in Southend added: "If you or someone you know is a resident of South Essex Homes, please make them aware of this scam which seems to be targeting their tenants across Southend."
