A man has been charged following an incident in which a woman and young child were assaulted.

Officers were called to an address off Archer Avenue, Southend, shortly before 1.15am on Saturday, May 8.

The woman and child did not suffer serious injuries and safeguarding has been put in place.

Mohammad Dahir, 36, of London Road, Wembley, has been charged with two counts of assault by beating, making threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and criminal damage.

He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
