Worried residents raised the alarm after witnessing yobs starting fires behind shops.
The residents called fire crews on Canvey following the incident near shops in Furtherwick Road yesterday.
Canvey Fire Station posted on Facebook following the incident on the island.

A spokesman said: "Concerned residents in Furtherwick Road called our Canvey Crews to an incident at the rear of the shops after witnessing youths setting fires.
"Police were informed and the fire was dealt quickly and effectively"
Essex Police and Essex Fire Service have been contacted for comment.
