A pair of men were seen shooting items at wildlife in a park - sparking fury in the community.
The duo witnesses targeting animals and birds in Shoebury Park, off Elm Road, Shoebury on Friday.
Police were called and officers searched the area and now the force is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
It comes after various other incidents with yobs targeting and killing animals and birds in Benfleet.

One woman who saw the incident and posted on Facebook and urged others to report it to police too.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We received a call at 9.50am on Friday 14 May reporting two men where trying hit wildlife with a sling shot in Shoebury Park.
“Officers attended and carried out a search of the area but did not find anyone. If you have any information you can submit a report online at https://www.essex.police.uk or use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm.
“Please quote incident 250 of 14 May. You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
