A MAN was reportedly "taken to hospital" after a head on crash on a road "notorious" for being an accident blackspot.
The crash happened at around 6.45pm on Saturday on Peterborough Way, Basildon.
Witnesses reported seeing police, ambulance and fire services in attendance, with one of the drivers reportedly being taken to hospital for treatment.
Hazel Lane, 47, saw the aftermath of the crash.
Hazel said: "I live just along the road and I heard this skid before the crash.
"The guy in the smaller car got out and he was clutching at his chest.
"There's several near misses on this road every day.
"It could have ended very differently.
"I worry there could be a fatality one day and I don't want that to happen."
Police and ambulance have been contacted for comment.
