A driver who “threw his cannabis” out his car window has been arrested by police.
Members of the Operational Support Group made the arrest during patrols in Southend and Leigh.
Officers had stopped a Vauxhall but were unable to catch the driver in possession of any drugs after the driver threw them out the window.
However, the man is alleged to have failed a drug wipe and was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Members of the OSG have been stopping other vehicles throughout the day to check for drugs and weapons.
They are also ensuring drivers are insured and cars are taxed.
Foot patrols have also been taking place in Southend and Leigh during what is expected to be a busy weekend.
Traffic on Southend seafront has been slow this afternoon, with delays reported between the pier and Westcliff Beach.
