A MAN was left stuck in mud for more than two hours before firefighters rescued him.
Crews from Canvey, Basildon and Leigh attended Rattwick Drive last night at 11.42pm after reports that a man was trapped.
Leigh's swift water rescue crew worked with coastguards using a sled to reach the man.
The man was conscious and breathing and was freed from the mud by 12.32am.
It's believed that the man was trapped for more than two hours.
He was brought back to shore by 12.45am and left in the care of the ambulance service.
