A TEENAGER has been arrested after reports of a gang of men armed with knives in the street.
A witness appeal has been made after the disturbance in Southend last night.
Police were called out to Southchurch Road at 6.30pm where there were sightings of four or five men, two of which were armed with knives.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Our officers attended the area and subsequently arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of affray. He remains in custody for questioning.
"We know the incident took place in daylight and would have been witnessed by a number of people, some of whom may have pictures or phone footage of the incident.

"We are urging anyone who has not given us an account of what they saw to submit a report online at www.essex.police.uk or use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm.
"You can also call us on 101 and cite incident 1062 of June 15."
No injuries were reported during the incident.
