A COMMUNITY rallied together for a huge fundraising mission to help a woman with a life-limiting condition.
Lucy Watts MBE, 27, from Thundersley, has a condition that is so rare, doctors don’t have a name for it.
Lucy turned to the community for its help to raise £130,000 for essential improvements to her home to allow her to continue living there.
A total of 50 businesses took part in advertising and donating to the raffle which took place in the village on Saturday.
Andie Freeston, member of the People’s Independent Party, who helped to organise the day said: “I’ve always wanted to do this for Lucy and we’ve finally done it.
“It was absolutely unbelievable.
“There was a real community spirit. Everyone was happy to be there and help Lucy. They all said it was such a worthy cause.
“It wasn’t about the raffle ticket prizes, it was just about being there for Lucy.”
A total of £1,508 was raised.
Special thanks has been paid to Dean and Sarah Ellis who donated the star prize at the raffle – an Amazon Fire stick.
The day was funded by the People’s Independent Party who paid for the posters and shop decorations in the village.
It was also an opportunity for residents to ask the party what their plans are for Thundersley.
