SOUTHEND Coastguard were rushed out to a reports that someone may be cut off from the land.
The group were tasked at 6.45pm last night to concern for a person spotted one mile offshore and possibly in danger of being cut off by the incoming tide.
A spokesman said: "The Southend Coastguard team were already mustered at the coastguard station for our regular team training so were able to scan the locale from our vantage spot from the Southend station and quickly get eyes on a person matching the description given by the first informant.

"Southend officers were able to inform Dover MRCC that the person in question was a runner, running out on the mudflats and were not in any distress.
"Team were then stood down to return to team training.
"Should you see anyone in trouble on or near the coast, don’t hesitate to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard, you could save someone’s life."
