A PUB has been forced to close after a number of staff tested positive for Covid.
The Chequers in Billericay closed earlier today, and will remain closed tomorrow, after three staff members tested positive for Covid.
The popular pub, on the high street, will now undergo a deep clean, bosses confirmed.
One of the staff members had not attended the pub for around a week.

A spokesman from the pub, said: "We're closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
"It is with deep regret we have to inform you we will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday for a deep clean.
"We have three staff tested positive for Covid.
"One hasn't been in for a week or so though.
"Any staff who have worked with them are now isolating for ten days.
"The rest are testing daily before they come into work.
"Any customers who have been close to them will be contacted by track and trace.
"Close means less than two meters for a full 15 minutes, so very doubtful any customers would be affected.
"We hope you understand.
"We must put our staff and customers health first."
