THE Coastguard and paramedics were called out to help an ‘intoxicated’ man along Southend seafront in the early hours of this morning.
It came just hours after England’s victory over Denmark in the semi-finals of the Euros.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said the man had fallen unwell, but the coastguard has since clarified the man was ‘intoxicated’.
It said in a statement: “HM Coastguard Southend were tasked at 01.48am by Dover Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) to assist East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust with a possible extraction of an intoxicated male on Marine Parade.
“Upon arrival on scene, casualty had already been taken into the care of East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust so team stood down and returned to station.”
