A driver has been left trapped and a major road partially closed after a crash involving two vehicles.
The accident, which took place this evening, has affected the A128 Tilbury Road near Dunton.
The road has now been closed between Station Road and the A127.
Firefighters were called to assist at the scene, with crews from Basildon and Brentwood attending.
The team arrived after being called by the ambulance service to help a man who was trapped in a car.
They used specialist cutting equipment to release the man, who was conscious and breathing, by 6.37pm.
He was left in the care of paramedics.
Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes were possible.
Essex Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for comment.
