A blast from the past puffed it's way through south Essex this morning, captured in all it's glory by Echo Camera Club members.

The LNER class B1 engine, 61306 Mayflower, headed through the area as part of a day trip excursion to Hastings railway station.

The train was scheduled to today haul the Southend East to Hastings trip, which is run by operating company Steam Dreams.

Built for the London and North Eastern Railway, 61306 Mayflower is one of two surviving B1 Class locomotives.
The impressive steam train was spotted by Echo Camera Club members charging through Southend, Leigh and Hadleigh Downs this morning.

Mayflower has two cylinders, 6 driving wheels, a firebox grate area of 30 square feet and can operate at 75mph.
