A HUGE thunderstorm swept across Basildon this afternoon.
A yellow weather warning is in place for south Essex this afternoon until midnight for thundery showers.

The storm sprang across Basildon in the last half an hour - with a huge downpour of rain and hail and ferocious winds.

At the Echo offices, the road outside became waterlogged while wind and rain hammered the building windows.
Thunderstorms are forecast until 7pm tonight in Basildon, while storms are also forecast in Southend in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
This was the scene in Southend Road, Corringham where huge amounts of water built up.
