WASTE collections in Southend have been delayed due to a "rising number" of Covid cases and self-isolating staff.
A number of staff at Veolia, Southend Council's contracted firm, have tested positive, forcing colleagues into self-isolation.
Recycling and garden waste collections were delayed yesterday, and bosses have warned it will have a "knock on affect" on today's collections too.
Families haev been urged to still leave out the right sacks and bin bags, and have been warned there is "no need" to report a missed collection.

"We are working hard with our partner Veolia to address the situation and would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through the issue."
