A FURIOUS pensioner has endured years of late night parties and “constant” loud music, as well as being punched in the mouth by a neighbour.

Terry Knott, who lives at the Ryedene Sheltered Housing in Vange, has been verbally and physically abused by neighbours who have been partying into the early hours of the morning.

The 73-year-old, has now demanded action from council bosses, after “nothing has been done for years.”

However, Basildon Council insists appropriate action has been taken in relation to recent issues, but Mr Knott is still unimpressed.

He claims a group of people are causing residents to stay inside their homes and are “avoiding them at all costs.”

Mr Knott was hit around the mouth by a “drunk woman” when he asked her to turn the music down six weeks ago and has been too scared to approach troublemakers since.

He said: “We should not have to live like this. It’s disgusting. It’s really awkward and uncomfortable.

“I’ve lived her for more than 10 years but it’s never been this bad before.

“A lot of people want to leave, it’s really escalated.”

Basildon Council has insisted its taken “appropriate action.”

Mr Knott added: “I went to her a few months ago to tell her to turn the music down.

“I could see through the window that she was dancing and drinking.

“She completely ignored me.

“An hour later she knocked at my door, verbally abused me and called me every word under the sun.

“She then swung for me, luckily there wasn’t any serious damage done.

“She was just far enough away not to damage my teeth.

“It’s always the same group of people.”

He’s now turned to MP Stephen Metcalfe to try and help.

A spokesman from Basildon Council, said: “We are aware of a recent incident between residents at our Rydene sheltered housing scheme and have already taken appropriate action to deal with the matter.

“There have been no further incidents reported to us.”

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We received a report a man in his 70s had been assaulted in Ryedene, Basildon on 25 April.
