A TEENAGER was left with a “concussion, cuts and bruises” after being brutally attacked.
The 17-year-old boy was assaulted in Mistley Side, Basildon, with shocked councillors insisting it is a typically “quiet and peaceful” area.
The attack, which took place around 5.50pm on Wednesday, saw the teenager attacked by a man believed to be in his 40s.
He has been described as white, of large build, 5ft 8ins tall with short hair and was wearing a dark blue t-shirt with writing on and black shorts.
Kerry Smith, councillor for the Nethermayne ward, said: “This is certainly quite a shock to hear about. The estate is usually a nice little quiet area of Basildon and there’s never usually any problems.
“Normally its quite happy there, so for this to happen is very disturbing.
“I hope the poor lad gets well soon, I’m sure going through something like this would certainly shake him up and it was a real shock to the system.
“I’m sure not only his mum will be worrying, but every mum on the estate will worry after this. There are also pensioners living in sheltered housing complexes there, two to be specific, so its a real concern.
“If anyone has any information or knows anything please get in touch.”

Luke Mackenzie, deputy mayor, has urged residents to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings when out and about.
He said: “I’ve walked through this specific area quite a few times and it’s usually quite quiet, not too much usually happens there.
“I hope the people carrying out these awful attacks get caught and end up in prison for a long time, it’s really sad.
“Everyone is affected differently by these sorts of things, sometimes the victim’s confidence is knocked and some get back out there - so I hope he can get back to his life as much as normal soon.
“My thoughts are with the poor boy and I hope he recovers quickly.”
