TWO teenage girls were punched outside a nightclub by a man, leaving them bruised and in hospital.

The two friends have taken to social media to reveal they were attacked by a man, believed to be in his 30s, outside Basildon’s Unit 7 in Festival Leisure Park.

The girls, who were visiting the club for the first time, said the man approached them at 4am on Sunday.

According to the lengthy social media post, one of the girls told him to leave them alone, before he punched her.

Her friend was also punched before one girl fell to the floor and hit her head on the curb.

Craig Rimmer, Tory councillor at Basildon Council, said: “This is totally unacceptable. This will really knock their confidence. Hopefully it won’t stop them going out again.”

A medic from Unit 7 was on hand to provide first aid, but bosses insist the incident was in the taxi rank outside, and was “unrelated to the club”.

The victim, who was hospitalised, wrote on social media: “I’m so annoyed and upset. We had had a good time and we were trying to book a cab.

“People were standing everywhere and this guy in his 30s was trying to talk to us and I was saying to him leave us alone.

“My friend tried to speak to him and out of nowhere he punched her and then I fell and hit my head. I’ve got bruises and my left arm scraped along the floor. I fainted and my hearing kept going.”

A spokesman from Essex Police said: “We were called to reports of a disturbance in Basildon around 4.50am on Sunday.

“It was reported that a man and two women had been involved in an altercation outside of Unit 7. No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.”
