Southend Airport has proved popular with thousands of tourists throughout the years.
It has an overall rating of 3.4 stars on Google and has received hundreds of reviews, with many of the latest left praising the airport for its Covid measures and service.
But not everyone has been impressed when they have visited the airport, with harsh critics slamming it for a variety of reasons.
One of the biggest problems seems to be the airport closing between midnight and 4am each day.
There is of course hotels right next door but for those who had unknowingly planned to spend the night at the airport while waiting for their flight, their experiences were not as good as others,
So here are some of the 1-star reviews left for the airport on Google, and why critics felt it worthy of the lowest rating:
1. One reviewer said: “If I could rate it 0 stars I would.
“Really poor service, no sockets at all to charge phones, don’t understand what is the need to close the airport at 12 am and tell everyone to wait outside in the cold and rain.
“Don’t recommend this airport to no one, honestly just miss your flight, it is not worth it at all.”
2. Another wrote: “Is this an airport? Really? Airfield? Yes, but not airport.
“I've got early flight and found ‘airport’ closed!
“The small train station was full of sleeping people, just on the floor. It looks like war or disaster times.
“I spent the night just under the sky, because McDonald's and Holiday Inn closed at night too. Keep away from this ‘airport’.”
3. Another reviewer claimed the airport was like “something out of the dark ages”.
He wrote: “I arrived on a flight from Dublin at 9.50am and disembarked from the aircraft. We proceeded to walk along a glass corridor for about 300 meters to the entrance of the arrivals section.
“We were held in the corridor for approximately 30 minutes while other passengers boarded an easyJet flight thorough a parallel corridor.
“As a result of this crazy setup and inefficiently run arrivals/ departures crossover I missed my connecting train at Shenfield and missed my appointment by one hour.
“Please, please, please if travelling on business or to a time deadline do NOT even think of travelling through Southend airport.”
4. One reviewer said: “Great airport unless, heaven-forbid, there are any passengers.
“The single security desk was well over capacity.
“It then took 30-40 minutes for ground staff to figure out how to board a disabled passenger after everyone else had boarded.”

Though not everyone is a fan of Southend Airport, thankfully there are many people who are.
It has received nine five-star reviews in the past month alone, suggesting it gets a lot more things right than wrong.
One five-star reviewer summed it up by writing: “It's a great airport. It is a small airport, but, that is the beauty of it.
“Everything in its place and makes all work perfectly. In and out and no delays.
“The train station right on their doorstep.
“From there you are only 50 mins to London and anywhere else you like.”
