The vaccine rollout is continuing across south Essex as health bosses look to give a Covid jab to as many people as possible. 

Along with walk-in centres, the Essex vaccine bus is touring parts of the county to make it as easy as possible for people to get a jab. 

Rochford is leading the way in south Essex when it comes to the number of people fully vaccinated against coronavirus. 

Around 80 per cent of its population have had both doses of the vaccine, and 88 per cent have had at least one jab. 

More than 70 per cent of people in Basidlon and Castle Point have also had both jabs now.

That number drops to 69.5 per cent in Southend, and down to 63 per cent in Thurrock. 

The Government's coronavirus dashboard now shows the percentage of people vaccinated in each neighbourhood in the UK, so here are the south Essex areas with the highest number of vaccinated residents:

  • Hullbridge – 82.8%
  • Billericay North East – 82.3%
  • Ashingdon – 81.6%
  • Rayleigh South East – 81.5%
  • Hockley and Hawkwell West – 81.3%
  • Hadleigh North – 81.2%
  • Rayleigh North East – 80.8%
  • Billericay Tye Common – 80.6%
  • Canvey Island Newlands – 80.5%

Despite the success of the vaccine rollout, there are some parts of south Essex where the number of people double jabbed is significantly below the regional and national average.

They are all either in Southend or Thurrock and include:

  • Grays Town – 47.5%
  • Purfleet, South Stifford and Lakeside – 49.5%
  • Tilbury 54%
  • Grays Chafford Gorges and Orsett Road – 55.1%
  • Kursaal – 55.8%
  • Victoria – 56.6%
  • Southend Central – 57.2%
  • South Chafford – 57.5%
  • South Ockednon – 58.7%
