A “JEALOUS, possessive and controlling” thug punched his former partner, squeezed her head and threatened to kill her.

Daniel Green was involved in the relationship with the woman in Basildon for six months when he became jealous of her contacting her ex.

The woman had to keep in contact to arrange visitation rights for their children.

Between February and May this year, Green, 32, subjected the woman to four physical attacks, and then sent her barrages of abusive texts and calls.

His hateful messages included that he “hoped her new boyfriend liked the taste of stainless steal”.

The woman took that as a threat that Green would stab her new partner.

In a victim impact statement, the woman said: “I have good days and bad days.

“I worry at what he might do next.

“I find when I am with close friends I feel less anxious. It’s put a strain on my relationship with friends.”

Mitigating, Jodie Hitchcock said Green had been remanded in custody from May until being released on bail earlier this month.

She said: “The defendant accepted that this relationship got entirely out of hand, but custody has been a significant period of reflection. It’s not somewhere he wants to return.”

On February 17 at her Basildon home, Green hit the woman in the side of the face and then strangled her.

At 5am on March 3, Green threw a bowl of cereal over the woman while she was in bed.

Two more assaults followed on April 2 and April 14 in which Green squeezed the woman’s head, with the harassment and malicious communications crimes taking place in May.

Green, of Houblon Drive, Chelmsford, he initially denied all crimes, but later pleaded guilty.

Judge Ian Graham said: “You were in a relationship for about six months, you were jealous, possessive and controlling in that relationship and those sentiments led to abusive threats and violence.”

Green was jailed for four months, but due to time served, will be released immediately.
