AN EASTENDERS actor delighted shoppers with autographs and selfies during a day of filming for Antiques Road Trip.
Danny was spotted by fans filming for the BBC show in on Sunday at Sally’s Out of Curiosity, an antiques shop on London Road, Westcliff.
The 44-year-old actor and presenter has appeared in the BBC soap opera since 2013 as Mick Carter, and is known for his work presenting game show The Wall and appearing in films such as The Football Factory, Mean Machine and Vendetta.
Mr Dyer spent four hours filming at the shop, and during breaks he was out on the streets taking selfies and talking to fans.
Mark Garwood, 41, a security guard at various venues, heard Mr Dyer was nearby when at work and went to meet him.
Mr Garwood, from Leigh, said: “I thought it was a joke at first.
“I went outside and there he was literally walking up the road.
“We got chatting and I phoned up my partner and put her on the phone and he asked her what she was cooking for dinner, and just having a laugh.
“We were chatting for about 15 minutes.
“He was just happy to chat. He was outside hanging around, he had no bodyguards or anything, he was just proper happy to speak to people.
“I’ve never seen EastEnders, but I’ve watched a lot, I know him from Football Factory and Vendetta. He literally treats his fans as if he had known them for ages.”
Other people meeting Mr Dyer included Darryl Seaman, who said he was “very kind” and “took the time to chat” to everyone.
A spokesman for Sally’s Out of Curiosity said: “The shop looked spot on waiting for the Antique Road Trip crew to arrive.
“We had a brilliant four hours spent with Danny Dyer, so many laughs.
“This guy really is great fun and a true and proper gent.”
