A 12-year-old girl was hit by a car and rushed to hospital, it has been confirmed.
The girl suffered leg injuries in the crash, which closed Nevendon Road in Wickford for a short period of time.
The incident is not being treated as a hit and run.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We were called by colleagues in the ambulance service to a collision in Nevendon Road, Wickford, shortly after 8.15am this morning, Monday 6 September.
"We arrived and put in place a road closure.
"A 12-year-old girl had sustained injuries to her leg which required hospital treatment.
"No arrests have been made."
A spokesman from the East of England Ambulance Service, added: "We were called at 8.13am with report of a collision in Nevendon Road, Wickford.
"We sent an ambulance, ambulance officer, rapid response vehicle and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.
"One person is being taken to hospital by land ambulance for further care."
