A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident at a house party.
Essex Police says the teenager, who is from Grays, was arrested on Monday and has since been released on bail until September 30.
Officers were called to the incident in Chestnut Avenue, Grays, at around 10pm on Saturday following reports of a disturbance.
A large group of teenagers had reportedly been seen fighting in the area.
A police spokesman said: “Officers attended and dispersed the group.
“While carrying out enquiries in the area, it was reported that a teenage girl, believed to have attended the house party, may have been sexually assaulted.
“She is being supported by specially-trained officers.”
