Roadworks which will be in place for the next six weeks get underway later today.
Essex Highways is carrying out improvements on High Road, Pitsea, and say lane restrictions will be in place between 9pm and 5am Monday to Friday.
However, it insists all lanes will remain open throughout the day.
The work, which is due to take place near the retail park, will see new traffic lights installed, along with a new puffin crossing.
Activities will also include the replacing or renewing of underground cable ducts under the carriageway and pavements as well as replacing equipment above ground.
The work is due to get underway later today (Monday, September 13) but bosses say the six weeks completion date is subject to change if there is any adverse weather or if ‘unexpected issues’ arise.
