NINE protesters who were arrested in relation to the M25 blockage yesterday have been released under investigation, police chiefs have confirmed.
Members of the Insulate Britain group sat in the road at the junction of the M25 near Lakeside Shopping Centre and in the M25 carriageway yesterday morning from around 7am.
A total of 12 people have been arrested after the incident, which saw huge delays on the M25 and in the surrounding areas and roads.
Essex Police has confirmed that nine, who were arrested on suspicion of highways obstruction, have been released under investigation, while three others have been released on bail.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "Nine people who were arrested after reports of an incident on the M25 near to Junction 31 shortly before 8.15am yesterday, Monday 13 September, have been released under investigation.
"Three other people also arrested on suspicion of the same offence, have been released on bail until October 8."
