A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was left with serious injuries.
The victim, who’s in his 20s, was approached by a man in Valkyrie Road shortly after midnight on Saturday (October 30) and assaulted.
He was taken to hospital and was initially said to be in a life-threatening condition.
Police have since confirmed his injuries are serious but his condition is no longer life-threatening.
A 31-year-old man, from Westcliff, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody.
Detective Inspector Kev Hughes, who’s leading the investigation, said: “Our investigation is progressing and we are building a picture of the circumstances which led up to this assault.

“We continue to believe this was a targeted attack and there’s no threat from the incident to the wider public.
“You will continue to see a visible policing in presence in the area today.
“I still need anyone who saw what happened or has any CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it to come forward.”
