A FAMILY are desperate to find their much-loved missing cat before the winter weather sets in after almost two months of searching for him.

Douglas, known affectionately by his family as Doug Doug, has been missing from his home in Woodham Road, Benfleet, since September 23.

Cheri Kennedy is calling on residents in the area to keep an eye out and help bring him home before it gets dangerously cold for the one-year old cat.

The 43-year-old, who lives with her partner and son, aged 18, last saw him sitting in one of his favourite spots on the brick wall at the front of her home at about 7.30pm.

“He used to just sit up there like he was King Julien, thinking he owned the world,” she said.

“He has never not come home before. It’s just been horrible really. His sister, she stopped eating for about six days. Thankfully she’s alright now and seems to have accepted it.”

Echo:

Doug Doug has distinctive white paw, a white 'upside down heart' nose with a black spot, and a white underbelly.

Cheri and her family have spent many a late night walking the surrounding streets trying to track Doug Doug down.

The black and white cat has a distinctive ‘upside down’ love heart on his nose and white paws.

“We have had so many false sightings of him now, with people seeing other cats. He’s the third cat on our road to go missing in nine months,” she said.

“The other two have been found, but some way away from home. I don’t know whether there are suspicious circumstances around it, I just want him back now. If someone has got him, I want him back, no questions asked, just let him come home.

“If you see him, just grab him. He’s a gentle kind little animal, he wouldn’t hurt a fly.

She added: “If you do think you have found him and contact me please send a photo. I have chased what feels like over 50 cats that aren’t him and it literally kills me every time when I discover it’s not him.”
