THIS weekend’s fireworks display along Southend seafront will be dedicated to Sir David Amess.
It comes as the town prepares to say farewell to the Southend West MP next week when his funeral takes place.
Southend BID announced it would be dedicating the fireworks display on Saturday to Sir David via its social media channels.
It said: “This Saturday's fireworks will be in memory of Sir David Amess.
“For a man who dedicated so much of his life to Southend, it is fitting that we dedicate this week's celebration in his memory.”
A memorial funeral for Sir David is being held in Southend on Monday.
The private service will take place at St Mary’s Church in Prittlewell before a procession is held to allow residents to pay their respects.
Another funeral service for the Conservative politician will take place in Westminster on Tuesday.
The fireworks display taking place on Saturday gets underway at 7.30pm.
