ECHO readers have been reacting to the news that easyJet are returning to Southend Airport from May as of next year.
The budget airline is coming back to Southend after quitting nearly two years ago.
The news is welcomed by Echo readers with many already planning to now book a holiday with the airline giants.
Julie Perrin, who lives only five minutes away from the airport, said she will definitely be booking: “I have used easyJet so many times before, I can’t wait for them to come back. I also think it will help with the future of the airport and local economy too.
“I will be booking next year as previously I was using them up to t=four times a year. So, it is something to now look forward to with all that has gone on.”
Lisa Gillett, another Echo reader, said: “I am very excited as it brings travel back to the area.
“It is a bonus as it is only on my doorstep and I can be on a place within an hour, rather than trying to get too Standard or Gatwick.
“I think this is what we need at the moment, bring on the holidays!”
The first outbound flight is heading to Majorca on May 1, with the second the following day to Malaga.
Other readers commented on Facebook the countries that they hope will be added to the list soon.
Susan Edwards said: “Hopefully flights to Alicante will follow soon.”
Another added: “Amsterdam please”.
David Fairbank is hoping for Faro: “Great news, hopefully Faro will be listed soon”.
A final reader commented: “Fingers crossed for Prague”.
