There's been a number of murders in our part of the county this year.
One of the most notable was the killing of loved MP Sir David Amess.
Sir David Amess MP was killed while helping his constituents in Leigh. Sir David died from stab wounds following an alleged incident during a constituency surgery held at the Belfairs Methodist Church back on October 15. Ali Harbi Ali, 25,has denied murdering the MP and has also pleaded not guilty to preparing acts of terrorism.
Paul Fletcher was killed at a New Years Eve party last year. Two mothers murdered a man at a New Year’s Eve party while their six children were in the flat after the women became angry that the man took both of their mobile phones, a court has heard. Hannah Sindrey, 24, is accused alongside co-defendant Kelly Blackwell, 26, of killing Sindrey’s 31-year-old boyfriend Paul Fletcher, who was stabbed through the heart at her home in Rayleigh in Essex.
Elsie Pinder, 66, died following a fire at a house in Southchurch Road on July 3 this year. She was rescued from the fire in the early hours of Saturday morning, before passing away a "short time later." Andrew Wilding has appeared in court charged with murdering the woman who died in a house fire.
The two boys died after a disturbance in Regency Court, Brentwood, in the early hours of Sunday in October. Frankie Watson, 19, of Baker Street, Orsett, has been charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He was due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court.
