TICKETS have gone on sale for an “amazing” concert honouring Sir David Amess concert, aptly named “He built this city”.

The concert for Sir David, who championed Southend becoming a city, will be staged at the Cliffs Pavilion on Sunday, February 13.

It will feature the renowned Music Man Project alongside many more Southend and national names that are yet to be announced.

Ticket prices range from £15 up to £25.

Theatre bosses have given the Cliffs Pavilion stage for free to celebrate Sir David’s life.

They will be celebrating his legacy by supporting the works of five charities that he supported: The Music Man Project, Dame Vera Lynn Memorial Statue, Dogs Trust, Prost8 and Endometriosis UK.

These five charities meant a lot to Sir David, and he supported them all in so many different ways throughout his life.

James Duddridge, the Conservative MP for Rochford and Southend East, neighbouring to Sir David’s Southend West said 2022 is a celebration of Sir David’s works and the city status.

He added: “This event will be absolutely amazing.

“I am really looking forward to attending with Anna Firth, who Southend West have selected to be the candidate for an election for David’s successor.

“We attended the Music Man event where David Stanley announced the event and date, which was fantastic.

“We have both been asked to work with David Stanley, founder of the Music Man Project, and his team to work alongside the council and partners to make 2022 a celebration of city status and Sir David’s work.

“Let’s light up the town in 2022. Viva the legacy of Sir David Amess.”

Mr Duddridge added: “Anyone who wants to offer a venue, time or sponsorship to celebrate David’s work and the city status, should get in touch with a member of the City Status 2022 team or via james@jamesduddridge.com and I will link them up.”

Sir David Amess died after being stabbed following an incident at his constituency surgery on October 15, at Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh.

Ali Harbi Ali, 25, has denied murdering the MP and also pleaded not guilty to preparing acts of terrorism.
