A ‘TRES bien’ time was had at Greensted Junior School in Basildon, when the pupils enjoyed learning all about France, its language, culture and history.

Mark Baker, Director of Languages at the school, said: “In today’s interconnected world, being able to speak a foreign language is a vital skill. Every child at Greensted enjoys regular French lessons as a part of the curriculum. This year, though, we took it a step further with a French week devoted to exploring the language, culture and history of our near neighbours across the Channel.

“Throughout the week it sounded like Greensted was actually in France with the children practising their language skills at every opportunity.”

They studied the work of French artists and produced paintings in their style. They researched the geography of the country and its rich and eventful history which is intertwined with our own.

The week ended with the kids donning their best French attire.
