A TERRIFIED teenager has been left scared to leave his home after being robbed by a gang of nine yobs.
The boy and a friend were robbed in Rayleigh High Street by the violent gang, who threatened them and stole an £80 jacket and £20 in cash.
The gang of about nine youths also tried to steal a necklace during the incident and even unzipped one of the victims’ jackets in the robbery.
A sister of one of the victims says her brother is shaken and nervous since the attack and has been afraid to leave the house since.
The 25-year-old said: “He was in Rayleigh High Street with a friend and they were walking towards the Travellers Joy pub and the group started to shout at them.
“The two boys turned to walk away from them and towards Rayleigh train station.
“One of them unzipped his jacket and forced him to hand it over.
“The other boy was made to give over £20 too and then the gang went towards the train station.
“My brother and his friend got there too and bang on the train doors for help and to let the other boys off.”
She said her brother and his friend were threatened by the gang before handing over the coat and cash during the incident on January 22.
The angry sister added: “My brother has lost a lot of his confidence after the incident and he doesn’t really go out.
“He’s frightened and I think the same boys are known for others issues including at a golf course as a lot of people on Facebook are talking about them and other incidents.
“The jacket my brother had is now out of stock too so he’s sad that he cannot get a replacement and it was also his own money that he had saved up for it.”
She has also taken to Facebook and said she wanted to raise the alarm to make everyone in the community aware of the incident.
Anyone with information on the robbery should call police 101.
