A NURSERY has been branded “inadequate” after inspectors found that “children’s individual needs were not met”.
Basildon’s More Grace Pre School and After School Club was given the lowest possible rating by Ofsted inspectors in a report published on Thursday.
The business, based in Crown Centre, Crest Avenue, was rated as “good” in its previous inspection in 2018.
However, in the recent inspection, inspectors found there was “significant weaknesses in leadership and management put children at serious risk of harm”.
The report said: “The provider has failed to take appropriate action to help keep children safe.”
Adding: “Children’s health, safety and on-going well-being is not given the priority it deserves.”
The More Grace Pre School and After School Club provide session day care from Monday to Wednesday and at the time of inspection there were 11 children on role, aged between two and four, with 26 places available.

Another criticism in the Ofsted report was that “children’s individual needs are not meet”.
Inspectors said: “For example, nappy changing time is scheduled during the day, and as a result, children’s nappies are changed at specific times meaning their basic needs are not met.”
The report added that “staff do not risk assess the areas used by children”, adding that “for example, the ground and table surfaces in the outside area are dirty and covered in berries from a large tree.
Inspectors said: “When questioned, staff do not know what the berries are or what the potential harm to children could be.
“In addition, the sloped access to the outside area is extremely slippery due to rotting leaves and berries that have not been cleared.”
When it came to safeguarding the children “arrangements were not effective”, inspectors found.
The report said: “The provider has failed to take appropriate action to help keep children safe and as a result, they are not assured that children are protected from risk of harm”.
The More Grace Pre School and After School Club declined to comment in response to the Ofsted inspection.
