A PAIR of brothers have been jailed for 20 years after a biker was scalped and beaten in a “vicious” attack in the street.

The victim was attacked in Dock Road, Tilbury, by Ferrell Falzon, 19, of Diana Way, Clacton, and Maison Falzon, 26, of Leicester Road, Tilbury, last August.

The man was driven at with a car and then attacked in front of horrified families in the street.

Prosecutor Jerry Hayes told Southend Crown Court: “It was a vicious and prolonged attack that left the victim with life-threatening injuries. He was scalped and it happened in broad daylight and had a profound affect on the men, women and children who saw it.

“He was hit by the car, which propelled him forward, they stamped on him and kept hitting him and slashing at him with a machete. Maison Falzon admitted the same offences and was jailed for 11 years and disqualified from driving for ten-and-a-half years. Charges of attempted murder against both brothers were ordered to lie on file.

AN EMPLOYEE stole almost £200,000 from a charity, claiming the money was owed to him for working overtime and weekends, a court heard. 

Stephen Osborne, 43, of Ilfracombe Avenue, Southend is standing trial at Basildon Crown Court charged with fraud after allegedly using a colleague’s details to approve the payments to himself.

He is accused of stealing £26,761.65 from the charity between September 2014 and August 2015, and then a further £161,162.48 between August 2016 and July 2017.

He was working with the disabled charity Vibrant which is based in Southend and Bethnal Green. 

Osborne told police that he was owed the money for working overtime and taking on shifts when he was due to be off. 

A ROCHFORD man has been jailed for his role in a drug gang who flooded the south east with 30kg of cocaine.

The gang were caught thanks to a joint investigation by French, British and Dutch police. They were arrested following a series of raids in which cash, drug dealing equipment, a cannabis farm, and a sawn-off shotgun were found by the police. 
Basildon Crown Court heard on Wednesday that during one two-week period they made a £50,000 profit.

One member, from Canvey, laundered fake banknotes for new ones, and at one stage had around £500,000 in currency.

Mark Scarborough, 35, of Adams Glade, Rochford, was jailed for three years for conspiracy to supply drugs.

Lisa Warner, 46, of Cambridge Road, Canvey, was convicted of entering into or being concerned in the acquisition or retention or use or control of criminal property, and concealing or disguising criminal property. 

She received a deferred sentence, and is due to return to court in six months when the sentence is expected to be suspended. 

Michael Read, 54, of Crouch Road, Grays, was convicted of conspiring to supply a Class A drug, and jailed for 11 years

Glen Houghton, 41, of St Peters Street, Lowestoft, was jailed for nine years for conspiring to supply a Class A drug, money laundering, and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug. He was jailed for nine years.

Craig Phillips, 50, of Buckles Lane, South Ockendon, and Mark Gooch, 38, of Sandringham Road, Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood, were both charged with conspiring to supply a Class A controlled drug. Phillips was jailed for five years, and Gooch for nine years.

Stephen Hart, 54, of Lower Noak Close, Romford, was jailed for nine years for conspiring to supply a Class A drug, producing a controlled Class B drug, and possession of a shortened shotgun. 

Perry Revell, 50, of no fixed address, was jailed for six years for conspiracy to supply Class A drug, and transferring criminal property, entering into or becoming concerned in a money laundering arrangement.

Jeremy Goldner, 54, of Northolm, Edgware, was charged with conspiracy to supply a Class A drug. He also received a deferred sentence and will return to court in six months for an official sentence which is due to be suspended. 

A SOUTHEND drug dealer was caught with 25 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin as well as £300 in cash in a car. 

Scott Docherty, 36, of Eastwood Rise, Eastwood, was also found with a mobile phone linked to the “Pure Point” drugs line which operated in Southend, London, as well as the midlands. 

Megan Hodson, of Steeple Close, Rochford, and 38-year-old Tracey Riddell, of Paddocks Close, Canewdon, were involved with handling the gang’s cash and Hodson, 23, was caught with £8,500.

The three people were sentenced in connection with the same drugs line but in different court hearings on Thursday

Docherty was given a year sentence suspended for two years, 40 days of rehabilitation requirement activity and 100 hours unpaid work.

Scott Prior, 35, of Claudius Road. Colchester, was given an 18 month sentence suspended for two years. 

Both men were charged with conspire to supply a controlled drug of class a. 
Hodson was handed a two year community order with 200 hours of unpaid work and 60 days of rehabilitation requirement activity and Riddell was given a two year community order with 150 hours unpaid work and 40 days f rehabilitation requirement activity
