A teenager was robbed of a bike and mobile phone at knife point near a train station.
British Transport Police was called after the five teenage boys threatened the fellow teenager near Southend Centre Train Station.
Officers say arrests have been made.
A spokesman for British Transport Police Essex said: "5 teen males approached a lone teen in Southend, intimated they had a knife and stole his bike and phone.
"They were tracked by CCTV to Southend Central station. The response officers working with Essex Police Southend stopped the group and subsequently arrests were made."
